I adapted this from an original video found here: http://youtu.be/OTIBDR4Dn2g. The original presentation was created as a summary of the ASB Unplugged Conference in Mumbai, India 2010. I wanted to add more multimedia and make it more visual as well as adjust a couple of the ideas.

I use resin a lot to finish pieces, but rarely use it as my medium. I would like to try and use it more so I am working on some ideas of a geode style with resin. First attempt didn’t turn out too bad.
My drying surface was apparently not flat/even so the resin moved but I think it gives it a slightly more organic feel than to have the design completely even. The gold is absolutely amazing and creating some really nice veins. Practicing this one gave me great ideas for my next piece.
Gold is Mehron Body makeup (Thank you to Artist Till Death that shared what they used with me! This stuff works really well)

Expert basket maker Jackie Sweet shares her passion for this craft whilst weaving a small basket with two different colours of willow here at Special Branch Tree Nursery in East Sussex. Jackie speaks of the historical, practical and artistic significance of weaving and tells us that, through her work, she can enjoy being part of an important creative tradition.
In episode 7 we set up our previous made crafting menu to be populated by the recipies we created and then set up bindings for all the info so that all the visual aspects are there and we can carry on next time focusing on the actual crafting logic.

George Smithwick is a sixth generation cooper who makes traditional wooden buckets and barrels. He is continuing a family tradition that began in the 18th century in Ireland.
George talks to us about what a Cooper is, some history of the trade, tools he uses, and the step-by-step process of making a wooden bucket.
Edward Washington and Jimmy Murray from the Sydney Living Museums’ Programs team flew down to catch up with George to see if he could help with making us some new buckets and he was happy to show us how he worked; using tools, techniques and practises that have remained the same for hundreds of years.
George also let us into what was once a very tight-knit and sometimes secretive coopering industry – and we captured it all on camera.

Balance can be described as finding the equalizing point between two opposing forces, and as both a design principle and a life philosophy, it is central to Korean culture. For master swordsmith Eun-cheul Lee, balance is essential to the creation of his hand-crafted swords. He revived a traditional Korean style of sword making that had been lost for 100 years. By blending different types of iron ore to make the steel used in his swords, he achieves balance in his blades and successfully brings an ancient technique into modern times.
